Browser Permissions:
First open your Browser Settings:
Search “Permissions” or “site settings”, then click “site settings:
Once in “Site settings” you can see which permissions you might need to change. For Microphone issues click “Microphone”, but if you camera isn’t working you can follow the same steps with the Camera settings:
Now you can see the sites that do an don’t have permission to use your microphone or camera:
If you see Google Meet, or another service, you want to use your microphone with under the first section labelled “Not allowed to use your microphone” you’ll click on that and edit the settings:
Select the permission you want to edit and switch from Block to Allow.
Reopen your Google meeting (or other app) and your microphone should be enabled.
Note: These settings are for Google Chrome but are similar for other browsers.
System Disabled Microphone (Win11):
First search “Change system sounds” in the search bar at the bottom of your screen:
Then select the “recording” tab:
For a laptop you will see a microphone called “Microphone Array” or something similar, otherwise look for your own microphone. If your microphone is enabled you can skip to the next section. If you microphone has the red down arrow you can click on it then click properties:
Click where it says “don’t use this device” and change it to “use this device”
System Muted Microphone
Your microphone might be muted on the system. Search Sound Settings in the search bar at the bottom of your screen:
Then check to make sure your input volume is not either 0 or muted:
