How to setup printer access

  1. Make sure the device is wired into the network, not on Wi-Fi
  2. Find out what version of Mac OS the system is running:

 




  1. Download and install the appropriate driver for altalink c8155 driver’ from: https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/product/altalink-c8100-series/downloads?platform=win10x64&language=en, change platform to match your Mac OS version.

  2. Click the apple icon and open ‘System Preferences’

  3. Select ‘Printers & Scanners’

  4. If any old Algoma University printers were installed on the machine do the following:

    1. In the ‘Printers & Scanners’ window, under the printer list, select each old printer and then press the ‘–‘(minus) button below the list to remove it

    2. Click the desktop, then at the top click ‘Go’ and from the drop down click ‘Utilities’

    3. Open ‘Keychain Access’ and scroll through the list of items, delete any items with the same name as each printer you removed (E.g. “AUPrinter1”)

  5. In the ‘Printers & Scanners’ window click the ‘+’ (plus) button below the list of printers

  6. Login to print.algomau.ca, then select the Driver Print tab (top middle). Click Mac (bottom middle)




  1. Select ‘Advanced’, then click Continue








  1. Select ‘print_SSM’ or 'printer_BR' depending on your campus, then continue from step 4 of the instructions that appear.


  1. In the ‘Name’ text field type “print_SSM” or print_BR. Leave Location empty.



  1. Select Software…In the search bar type “c8155” and select the driver “Xerox Altalink C8155” and click OK. If you have a lot of printer drivers installed you may need to scroll down


  1. In the ‘Printers & Scanners’ window select the new printer and click ‘Options & Supplies’


  1. Click the ‘Options’ tab and set the following settings and press ‘OK’ when completed:

    1. Finisher (last option): Professional or Office Finisher

    2. Paper Trays: 5 Trays

    3. Hole Punch Module: 2 and 3 Hole Punch Unit


  1. Open any printable document and print it, making sure that Everyone Print (or whatever you've chosen to name it) is set as the printer to print to


  1. Document should show up and then disappear from the computer's print queue.  Once the document disappears the print job can be released at any printer.
