We have upgraded our Self Help Service - you should now use the password reset portal to reset your account password.


All our platforms are Single Sign On (SSO) which means you always use the same password, the student portal password. Only change your password from the Password Reset Portal, you cannot do so from Moodle, Gmail etc. Please take the time to register on our new Password Reset Portal and setup your security questions for future password resets. 


A. How to login? 

1. Go to passwordreset.algomau.ca

2. Login with your Algoma U username and password. 

B. Setup security questions

Click the Enrollment tab at top to setup or change any security question. 

C. How to change password?

1.  Go to Self Service. 

2. Select Change password from the drop down mini tabs right below self service. (For student the change password should already be there.)


You will need to change your password once a year.

Current security best practices favour length over complex passwords.  For this reason we recommend using passphrases.  For instance, your password may be

“I love the snow in Ontario.” or ; “AlgomaU has the best students!”
